Session Delivery:

The session commenced with the participants actively maintaining a tidy environment, reflecting their commitment to the cause. After a brief recap of the previous session, emphasizing the importance of vigilance in everyday life, the coordinator introduced the day’s topic, “Drug Abuse: Harmful Substances and Prevention,” and invited Omatsola Okpeayeghan to lead the discussion.

The facilitator initiated the session by inviting the attendees to share their understanding of drugs and drug abuse. Many participants provided accurate responses, and the facilitator stressed that drug abuse is not limited to hard drugs but also includes the misuse of medications meant for pain relief and cough treatment, such as tramadol and codeine.

The attendees were informed about the harmful effects of drug abuse on the body, and they were encouraged to avoid such substances. Some participants shared eye-opening experiences they or their peers had with hard drugs, recounting incidents of individuals going insane due to drug intake.

During the session, there was a temporary disruption caused by a power outage as the generator went off.
