Summary of Outdoor Sports:
The participants enjoyed an exhilarating day filled with outdoor sporting activities at the Warri City Stadium. It was not only a time for fun but also an opportunity to learn, collaborate as a team, and demonstrate leadership skills.
Session Delivery:
Excitement filled the air as everyone gathered for the session, well aware that it was dedicated to outdoor sports. They arrived wearing their Itsekiri NextGen attire or other suitable sportswear.
After a headcount to ensure everyone was present, a brief prayer was offered before the group departed for the stadium.
Participants lined up by their respective teams, and Emmanuel Egbe provided guidance on walking safely to the stadium and emphasized the importance of following instructions.
The journey to the Warri City Stadium was filled with joy as volunteers led the way, surrounded the participants, and even halted traffic to ensure their safe passage.
Upon reaching the stadium, the group assembled on the smaller pitch since the main bowl was under construction. They organized themselves by team.
Emmanuel Fregene delivered an inspirational speech, highlighting the benefits of daily physical activity, such as fitness and improved blood circulation. He then introduced warm-up exercises, including stretching, arm and leg swings, squatting, and jumping in place.
Jolomi Tedeye injected an element of paramilitary-style training into the activities, introducing new team games. In one game, participants in each team had to squat, and the first person in the front row ran to the finish line and back, tagging the next person, who repeated the action. The last person to reach the finish line became the winner, thus making their team the victor.
A second game involved one team member carrying another on their back and racing to the finish line and back to their starting position. The first duo to complete the task won.
A spirited game of tug-of-war followed, with two opposing teams competing to drag a rope to their side.
While these games unfolded, some participants engaged in football matches in another part of the pitch, while a few skipped with ropes. Others cheered on their teams, creating a lively atmosphere.
