Summary:
As is customary for the last Saturday of September, the session was centered around book review, but this time it took a digital format. Selected stories were projected for participants to review, complemented by a spelling bee competition.
Session Delivery:
Participants eagerly took their seats, anticipating the selection of a librarian for the day. However, their excitement shifted when it was announced that the session would focus on digital storytelling. Nevertheless, they were thrilled to watch the projected stories.
Four stories were chosen, with each assigned to a different team. Importantly, all participants needed to pay attention, as questions could be directed to anyone.
The projected stories included:
- The Girl Who Never Made A Mistake (Assigned to Team Ikenwoli) – This story teaches that making mistakes is a natural part of learning.
- The Boy Who Grew A Forest (Assigned to Team Atuwatse II) – This tale emphasizes the importance of caring for the environment.
- The Frightened Lion (Assigned to Team Ginuwa II) – A story about overcoming fears and challenges that often turn out to be imagined.
- The Fox & The Crow (Assigned to Team Erejuwa II) – This narrative warns against being swayed by flattery from those we do not know well, highlighting the ulterior motives of such flattery.
Participants reviewed their assigned stories thoroughly and responded well to the questions posed, demonstrating a solid understanding of the themes and morals presented.
After the storytelling session, the spelling bee competition began, moderated by Omatsola Okpeayaghan with Eworitsemogha Wyse serving as the judge. Team representatives stepped forward to spell words across various rounds of the competition. It was impressive to see participants tackle both easy and challenging words.
