Itsekiri NextGen Project: 2024 Session 42 – Game On! A Day of Outdoor Fun
Unleashing Energy and Team Spirit through Games
- Date: November 16th, 2024
- Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Location: Former Caravan 4, Aja-Pessu (Pessu Town), Warri (with planned field activities)
- Attendees: 62 participants, 4 volunteers
- Activity: Outdoor Games Session
- Organizers: Jolomi Tedeye and Toju Ogharandukun
Session Summary:
This session focused on a variety of outdoor games designed to promote physical activity, teamwork, and fun.
Session Details:
Participants arrived dressed in their sports attire, ready and excited for the day’s activities. Following a prayer, the group proceeded to Twinkle Star field. Unfortunately, the field was occupied by a football match, and the alternative space was waterlogged. The group returned to the usual venue.
With the chairs and tables rearranged, Toju Ogharandukun led the participants in a warm-up session, organized by team. Two members from each team then demonstrated the various warm-up exercises, with different participants taking part throughout the session.
The next activity involved a “piggyback” style carry race, where one team member carried another on their back. The last pair standing, without dropping their partner, was declared the winner. This game showcased resilience, consistency, and willpower.
Due to the interlocked flooring, a traditional relay race wasn’t feasible. Instead, a walking relay was introduced. Two representatives from each team were positioned at opposite ends of the hall. The first participant had to walk quickly to the other end, shake hands with their teammate, and return to the starting line. The first to return was the winner. This activity was repeated, allowing all participants to join in.
The session was filled with excitement, laughter, and amusement for participants, volunteers, and even onlookers.
