The session was on different categories of brain teasers including puzzles, colour word challenge, tongue twister, trivia questions, guess the animal and riddle.

Session Delivery

The session was strictly on brain teasers which were in different categories. The first was in printed form where participants were given different puzzles to solve. This they say quietly to do.

The next was to say the colour of each word as against the word itself. Example is the word purple was spelt in yellow colour. The attention is on the colour instead of the the spelt words. Different colours were spelt out that way and the participants had to mention anyone touched by the facilitator and fastly too. It seemed easy but they didn’t get some right. It has to do with concentration, accuracy and speed.

The next was tongue twister. Here words with alliteration came to play. The participants were made to pronounce such words slowly at first then the pace increased subsequently.

The next was trivia questions.  Here some general questions were asked by the coordinator for the participants to answer. E. g what has four legs but can’t walk.

The next was guess the animal. Here, an animal was described. The participants used the description to picture the animal tagg fit into the description them say the answer. It was nice to see that they got all of the animals described in this session.

All was done competitively amongst the various teams. Omatsola Okpeayanghan was keeping records of their scores.

The final category was riddles. They all tried to cracked the riddles. Then came this final one that proves difficult. It goes this;

Penny has 5 children.

The 1st is names January.

2nd kid is February.

Her 3rd is called March

4th is April.

What is the name of the 5th.

They tried to get the name of the 5th. This took quiet some time. It was decided that they come back next session with the answer. As the session was rounding up, then came the answer from Alero Ebiekutan. She said what was the name of the  5th child.

As the others got confused the facilitator had to explain that they have to take cognisance of punctuation marks in all sentences. The last sentence was not a question because there was no punctuation mark.

The session was all about critical thinking. As they had to think each question through and through and quickly too as time was of essence. The session was filled with fun and laughter.
