Summary
The session equipped participants with foundational video editing skills using cap up application and focusing on practical application and creativity.
Session Delivery
After the opening prayers and the Itsekiri anthem, a quick recap of the previous session was done by Debi Amadedon.
Toju Ogharandukun who was the facilitator of the day introduced the session and all the materials needed like Laptops and tablets with internet access with free CapCut app installed on all devices.
Jolomi Tedeye, showcased the financial benefits of video editing, sharing personal success stories and displaying previous work samples.
With CapCut installed on all devices, participants were introduced to the interface and its functionalities.
A demo video featuring all groups was recorded and played back to demonstrate the editing process.
Participants observed how to:
- Import and add video clips to the timeline.
- Use key editing tools: trim, split, join, and delete.
- Add text, stickers, and customize font styles and colors.
- Overlay text on videos and adjust its display duration.
- Add sound effects and generate subtitles.
Participants worked in groups to edit their recorded video clips.Tablets proved more user-friendly for some participants due to their intuitive interface and familiarity compared to laptops.
Participants demonstrated enthusiasm and active engagement.The lesson successfully introduced fundamental video editing concepts.Groups were assigned a project to create a 5-minute “Vote of Thanks” video for the Christmas end-of-year celebration.
Subsequently, the upcoming lesson will include a 10-minute recap of key concepts.






The focus will shift to advanced techniques: overlay, masking, and background removal.
Conclusion
The lesson was a success, with participants gaining hands-on experience in video editing. The next session promises to further develop their skills and creativity.
