Session Delivery

The World Environment Day session effectively educated participants on combating plastic pollution. The coordinator emphasized the importance of reducing plastic use, reusing, and recycling, while highlighting entrepreneurial opportunities in plastic waste management.

The theme of this year’s world environment day is ending plastic pollution. So there was a need to sensitize participants on it.

The coordinator took up the sensitization session. She admonished them to desist of flooding the environment with plastics as they will eventually find their way to water bodies and in return cause flooding after piling up.

Instead of trashing plastics, they should make a viable business out of it. They can store plastics and sell to buyers for some cash.  This  business is suitable both for young and old people so they can get involved in it.

The coordinator stressed on the need to reduce the use of plastics by replacing it with more environmentally friendly material.

Plastics can be reused for storing palm oil,  drinks and liquid soap instead of disposing of them.

They can as well be repurposed. They can be converted to a flower vase, ear rings, bracelet chandelier and other artistic decorations.

They can be crushed and recycled to make other plastic products.

The participants were eager to make money out of the plastic business and promised to get a sack and start saving plastic cans.

At the end of the sensitization session, everyone was given hand  gloves and  trash bags in preparation for the clean up exercise.

The clean up was first done in our immediate environment before going out to the street to do more clean up

They had the sense of belonging to have participated in the clean up exercise.

This initiative promoted sustainability, community engagement, and environmental stewardship, giving participants a sense of ownership and responsibility.
